Split PDF Online — Extract Pages Without Uploading

The split PDF tool lets you pull a specific page range — say pages 5 to 12 — from any PDF document and save them as a fresh, standalone file. You can use it to redact unwanted front matter, isolate a chapter from a long report, separate a signed signature page, or carve a contract into annexes for separate distribution.

Unlike most online PDF splitters that upload your entire document to a remote server, PDFGuru runs the operation in your browser using pdf-lib. When you click the Split button, the page reads the source file into memory, copies the requested pages into a fresh PDF document, and presents the finished download. No temporary file is created on any third-party server.

The original PDF on your computer is never modified. Splitting simply produces a new file — the source remains byte-for-byte intact. You can set the "From page" and "To page" fields to any 1-based range; the tool validates against the document's actual page count and reports a friendly error if the range is out of bounds.

Splitting is instantaneous for documents of any reasonable size — a 500-page PDF splits in under a second on a modern CPU. The output preserves the encoding of the source, including embedded fonts and any text layer that pdf-lib can copy wholesale. There are no watermarks added to the result, no signup walls, and no daily limit.

Use the tool above confidently for legal, medical or financial documents — even those under GDPR, HIPAA or NDA obligations. The browser never reveals anything to the network during processing.

Split PDF — Frequently Asked Questions

The single-range extractor above is the simplest workflow. Need many splits? Run the tool multiple times — outputs never interfere with the source.
No. The original file is only read. A brand-new PDF is built from the requested pages and downloaded separately.
If the source has owner-level restrictions that do not require a viewing password, the splitter will silently ignore the restriction. For a fully encrypted PDF, unlock it first with our Unlock PDF tool.
Printing only specific pages to a new PDF can re-encode fonts and break links. The splitter copies structures directly so metadata, text layers and links survive.
